Why
Cellulose Insulation?
When you choose insulation for a new or an existing home, you will find
a number of alternative products available.
However, when you know all the facts, you'll find cellulose insulation
has the advantage. Here's why....
- Cellulose
is much more dense than typical fiberglass insulation and conforms to
the space where its applied...around wires, electrical boxes and water
pipes. Cellulose creates an even and continuous blanket of insulation
which dramatically reduces drafts, energy loss and convectional airflow
caused by air infiltration.
- Cellulose
offers more heat transfer resistance ("R" value) than other fiber insulation
materials. It also seals your home against air infiltration better
than other fiber insulations. By providing a tighter seal and better
protection against air infiltration, cellulose achieves greater overall
energy efficiency.
- Cellulose
is people safe. It is non-toxic, non-itchy, non-carcinogenic and
requires no special health warning labels. It contains no asbestos or
fiberglass.
- Cellulose
requires less energy to produce. It is made from recycled paper
products which makes it very environmentally responsible. Paper that
is not recycled ends up in landfills or at incinerators where energy
is wasted reducing it to ashes, soot, and smoke. When you choose cellulose
insulation you are making a positive contribution toward solving solid
waste disposal problems and promoting a cleaner environment.
- Cellulose
insulation is engineered as a Class 1 fire-rated material which meets
all specification set by fereal, state and city building entities.
It is covered by the ASTM (American Society for Testing and Materials)
standard specification C-739. This standard is the most stringent and
comprehensive performance standard for any insulation product. Developed
and refined over many years, the ASTMS stardard covers nine different
product attributes.
- Cellulose
prevents damage. It is high resistant to insects and rodents. In
addition it contains a special formula which is non-corrosive and fights
mildew.
